LIMA, THE CITY OF THE KINGS

GENERAL INFORMATION

LOCATION
In the central part of Peru. Occupying zones of the Coast, across the Pacific Ocean, and the Andes at the East. 

EXTENSION
The Department of Lima has an extension of 33,820 square kms.

POPULATION
It has a population of 8'053,900 inhabitants. 

CAPITAL OF THE DEPARTMENT
Lima is located at an altitude of 133 mts. Above sea level, next to the Rimac River and across the Pacific Ocean. One of its characteristics its humid and it never rains. 

CLIMATE
On the Coast, lukewarm. In summer (December to March) the average temperature is of 25°C, and in winter (June to September) the minimum temperature gets in between 11°C to 15°C. In the zone of the Andes, the days are warm and at night, cold.

ACCESS / APPROACH
By Air:
Its the door of entry and departure of the country. The International Airport Jorge Chavez is 8 kms. and 25 minutes from the city. Daily flights from Lima, connects most of the cities of the interior of Peru.
By Land:
It communicates by the Pan-American Highway with all the cities in the Coast and with the countries on the North and South. By the Central Highway and the Marginal with the cities in the Andes and the Jungle. Daily departures to all Peru..
